The number one design priority for most serious studios is the control room, and that’s how it was for Planet Studios. We knew how crucial it was to get an accurate control room sound, so that something that sounds great in the studio will also sound great in the outside world, And really, that’s the Holy Grail for any studio. It means you can believe what you hear (and that’s because it was built to the top studio designer Andy Munro’s very demanding specifications). Also there’s an easy going, yet purposeful vibe to the control room, providing a comfortable, inspiring and creative work space, and where ideas can be captured as soon as they are created.
The adjoining live room is set up to accommodate up to 20 musicians and boasts a vibrant acoustic, there’s also a large isolated booth to provide a pristine vocal sound. Great sounding drums and Indian percussion are a breeze using a combination of the dry and the live spaces.
Infact we were able to develop such a good sound with Indian percussion instruments that we’ve had several top Bollywood music producers travel over to Planet Studios specifically to capture the unique sound.
As monitoring is so crucial, the studio has a wide range of speakers, such as mandatory NS10’s, massive Tannoys, marvelous Munro Eggs and in-car style sub woofer systems, even an early 80’s “on the shoulder” boombox!
Everything is recorded into Logic X and a fully loaded Mac (set to 11). All this top notch gear and a positive “can do” approach ensures that this flagship studio has everything you need for an outstanding recording experience.
